Spread the love

Life often feels like a battle. Some days are calm. Others feel like war. But not all battles are physical. Many are spiritual.

Spiritual Warfare at a Glance

  • Where it happens: In your thoughts, emotions, habits, and relationships.
  • How to fight: With prayer, Scripture, faith, and spiritual awareness.
  • Key tools: Armor of God (Ephesians 6), discernment, faith community.
  • Goal: Stand firm in Christ and walk in spiritual victory.
Spiritual Warfare is not about reciting some prayer followed by in Jesus name.
As believers in Christ we are told what to do when
it comes to Satan and his attacks.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - James 4-17

What Is Spiritual Warfare?

Spiritual warfare is the unseen battle that affects every believer. Itโ€™s the enemyโ€™s attempt to distract, discourage, and destroy your faith.

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but… against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
โ€” Ephesians 6:12

This isnโ€™t superstition. Itโ€™s real. And it shows up in daily life.

Recognize the Battle

You canโ€™t fight what you donโ€™t see.

Spiritual warfare doesnโ€™t always look dramatic. It often comes as:

  • Doubt
  • Fear
  • Negative thoughts
  • Shame
  • Temptation
  • Distraction from God

These attacks can pull you away from truth. Recognizing them is the first step toward victory.

How to Prepare for Victory

Once you see the battle, you can get ready to fight.

โ€œPut on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devilโ€™s schemes.โ€ โ€” Ephesians 6:11

Equip Yourself:

  • ๐Ÿ›ก Armor of God (Ephesians 6:13โ€“17)
  • ๐Ÿ™ Daily prayer and worship
  • ๐Ÿ“– Consistent Bible reading
  • ๐Ÿค Connection with other believers
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Spiritual discernment

Youโ€™re not in this fight alone. God is with you.

Build Spiritual Strength

1. Connect with Believers

โ€œYou are the body of Christ.โ€ โ€” 1 Corinthians 12:27
Join a Bible study. Text a friend to pray with you. Church isnโ€™t just a buildingโ€”itโ€™s your support system.

2. Resist Temptation

โ€œSubmit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee.โ€ โ€” James 4:7
Temptation is a weapon the enemy uses often. God gives you power to resist.

3. Stand on God’s Promises

โ€œEven though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil.โ€ โ€” Psalm 23:4
You are never alone. God fights for you.

Overcome Real-Life Spiritual Attacks

Spiritual warfare looks different for everyone. Here are a few ways it may show up:

1. Attacks on Your Mind and Emotions

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Shame
  • Constant fear

โ€œWhatever is true, noble, right… think about such things.โ€ โ€” Philippians 4:8
Shift your focus to Godโ€™s truth, not the enemyโ€™s lies.

2. Doubt and Spiritual Dryness

  • Feeling far from God
  • Not wanting to pray or read
  • Questioning your faith

โ€œWhy, my soul, are you downcast?… Put your hope in God.โ€ โ€” Psalm 42:11

3. Setbacks and Failures

You will fall. But failure is not the end.

โ€œThe testing of your faith produces perseverance.โ€ โ€” James 1:3

Every stumble is a chance to grow stronger.

What To Do When You Feel Spiritually Weak

  • Talk to God. Be honest.
  • Ask someone to pray with you.
  • Read just one verse. Start small.
  • Rest in His presence.

โ€œThe Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.โ€ โ€” Exodus 14:14

Understanding Spiritual Discernment

Discernment helps you know what is from God and whatโ€™s not.

โ€œTest everything. Hold fast to what is good.โ€ โ€” 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Ask God for spiritual clarity.

โ€œIf any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask Godโ€ฆ and it will be given.โ€ โ€” James 1:5

Discernment protects you from spiritual deception.

Let Faith Be Your Shield

Faith is what holds you steady.

โ€œTake up the shield of faith… to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.โ€ โ€” Ephesians 6:16

Even when you canโ€™t see what God is doing, trust Him.

โ€œTrust in the Lord with all your heart…โ€ โ€” Proverbs 3:5โ€“6
