Living for the Christ Means Sharing the Christ
Many people say they are Christians. They believe in Jesus and maybe even go to church. But sometimes, they don’t tell anyone about their faith. They keep it private, as if faith is something to hide or be ashamed of.
Why do some Christians stay silent about their faith? And what does God want us to do?
Why Are Some Christians Quiet About Their Faith?
There are many reasons. Sometimes people are afraid others will make fun of them or reject them. Maybe they don’t feel confident talking about their beliefs. Or maybe they just don’t know how to start the conversation.
It’s okay to feel nervous. Sharing faith isn’t always easy. But if we keep our faith to ourselves, others might never hear about the love and hope Jesus offers.
What Does the Bible Say?
Jesus told His followers to share the Good News. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus says:
“Go and make disciples of all nations…”
This means Jesus wants us to tell others about Him.
Peter, one of Jesus’ closest friends, said in 1 Peter 2:9 that we are chosen by God to:
“proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Our faith is a light that should shine for everyone to see.
It’s Normal to Be Scared — But We Can Trust God
If you’re afraid to share your faith, you’re not alone. Even the first Christians were scared sometimes.
The good news is God gives us courage. When we pray and ask Him, He helps us know what to say and how to say it.
You don’t need to be perfect or have all the answers. Just be honest and share what Jesus means to you.
Why Sharing Matters
When we tell others about Jesus, lives can change. People find peace, hope, and joy. Your story could help someone who feels lost or alone.
Jesus wants us to live boldly for Him. When we do, we bring light into the world.
Practical Tips to Share Your Faith
- Start with Prayer: Ask God to give you courage and the right words.
- Live by Example: Show Jesus’ love through your actions — kindness, patience, and forgiveness speak loudly.
- Be Ready to Listen: Sometimes people need to be heard before they’re open to hearing about faith.
- Share Your Story: Tell others how Jesus has changed your life in simple words.
- Use Everyday Moments: Conversations about faith don’t have to be formal. Talk about Jesus when it naturally fits.
- Invite Someone: Ask a friend to join you at church or a Christian event.
- Be Patient and Respectful: Not everyone will respond right away. Keep loving and praying for them.
A Challenge for You
Are you ready to live for Christ by sharing Him with others? It doesn’t have to be a big speech. Start small — share your faith with a friend, a family member, or someone who asks.
Remember, Jesus promised He would be with us always (Matthew 28:20). We’re never alone when we share our faith.
