Daily Devotional Series: Stepping Stones of Hope

Today’s scripture comes from Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

This verse is a powerful call to action for those facing challenges. It acknowledges the natural human emotions of fear and discouragement. But then, it offers a clear directive: “Be strong and courageous.” This strength doesn’t come from ourselves, but from God’s presence beside us.

The metaphor of “stepping stones” can be helpful when navigating challenges. Often, we can’t see the entire path ahead, only the next immediate step. But with each obstacle overcome, we gain strength and confidence. These “stepping stones” represent the small victories, the moments of courage, and the lessons learned that propel us forward.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

In times of difficulty, we often feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the challenge. Grant us the wisdom to focus on the present step, the decision we can make today, the task we can complete right now.

Empower us with your strength and courage. Help us face our fears with a determined spirit, knowing you are by our side.

May each obstacle overcome become a stepping stone of hope, leading us closer to a brighter future.

Guide our path, illuminate the next step, and fill our hearts with unwavering faith.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.
